Our Playschemes

Our holiday playschemes provide fun and entertainment for young children in our care

About Our Playschemes

Our aim is to provide fun and entertainment for all children in our care. We offer a variety of activities to encourage independence and social skills, hoping that your child will want to return! Some of the activities we offer are: arts and crafts, outings, team games, cooking, quiet play, role play, construction toys, face paints, playstation, outside play and much more.

There is also the opportunity for free play throughout the day. The main part of the day involves sessions that the children and young people select themselves, from various options on offer. Sessions comprise a mix of active games, offsite trips and craft activities. All our programmes are published in advance and can be seen in our Parent Portal.

We strive to go on a trip every day, whether that’s a trip to the local park, a game of bowling, or a visit to the play centre. This is subject to change near the time depending on local weather conditions or the children’s choice.

Your child must bring a packed lunch with ice blocks, to keep the food cool as we have no cool storage facilities available.

Places in the holiday playscheme are limited places on a strict first-come, first-served basis. To avoid disappointment, we advise booking your place early to ensure your child has their space reserved.

For Summer 2024 we will have two bases for our playschemes. Our long running playscheme at Solent Infant School will be open every day 7.30-6.00 this summer BUT we will also be opening our brand new playscheme at Portsdown Primary School, which will be open 9am-3pm every day for 4 weeks. We cannot wait to share the exciting play areas Portsdown Primary school has to offer!

All staff hold an enhanced DBS disclosure. A high proportion of staff also hold a full and relevant level three or higher qualification (with some staff also being qualified teachers). Safeguarding and child protection training is updated regularly.

We ensure a high proportion of the staff team hold a current paediatric First Aid certificate, so you can rest assured your children are in safe hands, with a minimum ratio of 1:10 (which is often much higher). We also make sure we have robust behaviour management procedures in place. If you have any questions regarding our policies or procedures, feel free to drop us a message via the contact form and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
